Microsoft tests modern Windows Run, says it's faster than legacy dialog

Microsoft is testing a modernized Run dialog for Windows 11 that supports dark mode and Fluent Design while actually being faster than the legacy version — showing a median time-to-show of 94ms versus the legacy 103ms. The redesign involved telemetry from 35 million users to inform decisions, including dropping the rarely-used Browse button (used by fewer than 0.0038% of users). The new Run dialog is opt-in via Settings > Advanced Settings and is not enabled by default. Microsoft plans to add more features based on user feedback before a broader rollout.
