Microsoft is expanding free AI capabilities in Office apps (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for Microsoft 365 subscribers starting March 2026. Copilot Chat in Outlook will access entire inboxes and calendars for triaging and meeting preparation. Agent Mode, previously exclusive to $30/month Copilot subscribers, will enable complex document and spreadsheet generation with reasoning models from Anthropic and OpenAI, plus automated PowerPoint deck creation with branded templates. These additions continue Microsoft's strategy of bundling AI features into existing subscriptions rather than charging separately.
