Microsoft has reshuffled its AI leadership, pulling Mustafa Suleyman away from day-to-day Copilot oversight so he can focus on a longer-horizon bet: building superintelligence and frontier models over the next five years.
Jacob Andreou, previously Corporate VP for Product and Growth at Microsoft AI, takes over as EVP of Copilot. He’ll lead a newly unified organization that combines consumer and commercial Copilot efforts under one roof, reporting directly to CEO Satya Nadella.
The reorganized Copilot division is structured around four areas:

A new Copilot Leadership Team will include Suleyman, Andreou, Charles Lamanna, Perry Clarke, and Ryan Roslansky.
The timing is notable. Copilot has struggled to make a meaningful dent in the market despite Microsoft pushing it aggressively across its product lineup, and the company has gone through multiple rounds of layoffs in recent months. Consolidating consumer and commercial efforts under a single leader is a fairly direct acknowledgment that the current structure wasn’t working.
Suleyman, meanwhile, moves fully into frontier model research — the kind of long-term, high-uncertainty work that’s harder to combine with running a product organization.
