Critique the business all you want, but we all agree that it’s a good thing that at least some other countries get a shot at working for a tech company right? Sure it’s the goverment’s job to look out for their citizens, and we want to manage economic stability, but I don’t have any additional obligations to my compatriots. There’s no inherent reason a John should have a tech job over an Amir besides the (non absolute) government and economic considerations–outside that I don’t care.

Microsoft is a large, publicly traded corporation, and therefore it chases cheap dollars (i.e. freshly printed dollars, loaned at the absurdly low Fed rate) above all else. The best way to get cheap dollars is to grow year over year, to demonstrate stability to the big banks.
Therefore, they evaluate all business decisions through the lens of growth. In other words - a middling, slowly changing product is preferred to a high quality stable product, and growing by large numbers of cheap workers is preferred to stasis with small numbers of high efficiency workers. Even if that means unhappy customers and communities.
The fiat system in a nutshell. Cheap loans for big biz paid for through inflation. They get rich, we get enshittification.
