Windows 11's File Explorer is getting performance improvements through preloading functionality that speeds up launch times on less powerful hardware, similar to optimizations previously applied to Office apps. The context menu is being decluttered by moving rarely used actions like file compression, rotation, and cloud options into organized submenus, making frequently used features easier to access. These changes are currently in Dev preview builds and expected to roll out to all users in early 2026.
