Microsoft's Azure Skills Plugin, announced March 9, bundles 19+ curated Azure skills, an Azure MCP Server with 200+ tools across 40+ services, and a Foundry MCP Server into a single install. It works with GitHub Copilot in VS Code, Copilot CLI, Claude Code, and other agent-compatible tools. The plugin closes the gap between AI code generation and actual cloud deployment by giving agents a structured playbook: skills encode decision logic (when to use which service, pre-flight checks, cost guardrails), MCP tools execute against real Azure resources, and Foundry handles AI model workflows. The result is that institutional cloud knowledge — previously locked in senior engineers' heads — becomes a versioned, auditable, installable artifact that agents consume automatically rather than generating generic advice.
