Microsoft has announced a second period of Extended Security Updates (ESU) for Exchange Server 2016/2019 and Skype for Business Server 2015/2019, covering May to October 2026. This comes despite Microsoft previously stating the ESU period would not be extended past April 2026. Customers must pay for the updates with no guarantee any will actually be released. Microsoft openly admits it would prefer customers migrate rather than purchase the ESU, calling it a reluctant offering for those who haven't completed their transitions yet. Microsoft insists there will be no further extensions after this second period.
