I can't believe this took so long but I'm hyped it happened. Microsoft's slow embrace of Unix/Linux standards is a necessary step for Windows dev to become reasonable again. One command at a time.

Microsoft has added a 'sudo' command to Windows 11, which is widely used on Unix-based operating systems like Linux and Mac OS. Microsoft Added Sudo To Windows (And I Love It)

I am obviously not smart enough to understand this…
I am trying sudo and all I am getting is a program launched with exactly the same group memberships and privileges I already have. I am also unable to find any way to configure which programs should be startable by sudo.
I noticed that when UAC is enabled and I am in the Administrators group and running a non-elevated shell, sudo appears to be doing the same as “Start-Process -Verb RunAs” (basically ShellExecuteW(NULL, L&quot;RunAs&quot;, L&quot;C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe&quot;, NULL, NULL, SW_NORMAL);).
Is that it? What am I missing?
(Update: Apparently double backslashes collapse to one backslash when the comment is saved. The string of course escapes backslashes.)
