Meta has agreed to allow rival AI chatbots access to WhatsApp via the WhatsApp Business API in Europe for 12 months, responding to pressure from EU antitrust regulators who threatened interim measures after Meta blocked competitors in January. The move also extends to Brazil following a court reinstatement of an injunction. However, a complainant company argues Meta's fee-based access constitutes 'vexatious pricing' that is effectively as restrictive as the original ban, and has urged the EU to still impose an interim order.
