Gartner analyst Ranjit Atwal warns that soaring DRAM and NAND flash prices — driven by AI hyperscaler demand rather than supply constraints — will eliminate budget PCs (under $500) and push entry-level smartphones out of reach. Memory costs have already doubled or quadrupled, with a further 130% rise projected by end of 2026.
