Meet Devin - The End Of Programmers As We Know It

No, Devin AI will not replace us as a programmer today. It’s going to take many many many years to reach that point! People have said the same thing when Copilot was released, ChatGPT was released as well. Did they replace our roles? Absolutely not right.
The folks who’re saying it will replace engineers do not have a clue of what goes on in the software industry. They do not understand how complex and complicated the requirements are, and how that translates into code.
Maybe these AI models can start putting together some boilerplate code for a starter project, but deploy it on an enterprise application with millions of lines of code - I don’t think it will be able to do anything here, that’s where a human shines!
I still remember youtube videos and twitter threads from people who don’t work in tech telling ChatGPT and Copilot will replace entry level engineers. That’s not how it works!
They need a human intervention to do their tasks, AI will at best help you perform better at your job, and automate few others, but won’t be able to steal a skilled software engineer role anytime soon.
