Open-source developer Javier Tia is upstreaming Linux kernel support for the MediaTek MT7927 (Filogic 380) chipset, enabling WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. The work builds on the existing mt76 wireless driver and involved partial reverse engineering. It has been tested on ASUS, Lenovo, Foxconn, and AMD RZ738 hardware. The patches are currently in their fourth review round on the Linux-wireless mailing list. Users who need support now can use DKMS packages available on GitHub.
