AWS Elemental MediaConvert has launched a new Probe API and accompanying UI for metadata analysis of media files. The free tool reads header metadata to quickly return codec specifications, pixel formats, color space details, and container information without processing actual video content. It is available in all regions where MediaConvert is supported and can be integrated with AWS Step Functions to automate encoding decisions based on source file characteristics.
