The Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF), a Linux Foundation sub-foundation, held its MCP Dev Summit in New York, drawing 1,100 attendees and reporting 170 members since its December launch. MCP co-creator David Soria Parra revealed the protocol now sees over 110M SDK downloads per month and achieved in 16 months what React took 3 years to reach. The MCP specification roadmap includes stateless transport, task primitives, enterprise authentication with cross-org SSO, triggers, skills, and SDK v2 for Python and TypeScript. Key challenges being addressed include context bloat and composability. Security remains the top concern for enterprise adoption, and the AAIF is soliciting working group proposals to tackle reliability, scalability, and governance requirements.
