Material Maker 1.6, a free and open-source alternative to Substance Designer built with Godot, has been released. Key new features include controlled variations (allowing parameterized node inputs with up to four variables), aperture nodes (wireless broadcaster/receiver connections to reduce node graph spaghetti), and a new glTF export option. The tool supports exporting materials directly to Blender, Godot, Unity, and Unreal Engine. It is MIT-licensed, available for Windows, Mac, and Linux, and is coming to Steam in July for easier discovery and automatic updates.
