Meta announced Meta Compute, a new initiative to massively expand AI infrastructure capacity. The company plans to build tens of gigawatts of power capacity this decade and hundreds of gigawatts over time. Three executives will lead the effort: Santosh Janardhan overseeing technical architecture and datacenter operations, Daniel Gross handling long-term capacity strategy and supplier partnerships, and Dina Powell McCormick working with governments on infrastructure deployment and financing. This follows Meta's earlier capital expenditure projections showing significant investment in AI infrastructure, joining competitors like Microsoft and Google in the race to build genAI-ready cloud environments.
