Marc Lore's food-tech startup Wonder is developing Wonder Create, an AI-powered platform that lets anyone design and launch a virtual restaurant brand in under a minute using a text prompt. The AI generates the name, branding, recipes, pricing, and health information automatically. The virtual restaurant then goes live across Wonder's network of 120 tech-enabled, increasingly robotic kitchen locations (expected to reach 400 next year). Wonder's kitchens operate as 'programmable cooking platforms' capable of running 25 different cuisine types, with a 700-ingredient library and growing robotics integration including a recent acquisition of Spice Robotics. Lore envisions use cases ranging from food entrepreneurs testing recipes to influencers monetizing their audiences. The model draws comparisons to ghost kitchens, which struggled with quality consistency, though Wonder's automation aims to address those issues. Wonder also owns Grubhub and Blue Apron, and is acquiring established restaurant brands to rapidly scale them across its network.
