Managing OpenTelemetry at Scale: Why OTel Pipelines Need a Control Plane

As OpenTelemetry deployments grow to hundreds of collectors across hybrid environments, manual configuration management becomes a production risk. Day-2 operations expose problems like configuration drift, slow rollouts, and lack of centralized inventory. A control plane is needed to provide live fleet inventory, enforce version consistency, enable safe canary rollouts, and maintain audit trails.
