Making agents practical for real-world development

VS Code 1.110 (February 2026) introduces several features to make AI coding agents more practical for real-world development. Key additions include: session memory shared across coding agents and CLI workflows, manual context compaction via /compact, mid-response agent guidance and queued follow-on requests, chat session forking via /fork to explore alternatives, lifecycle hooks for enforcing team policies and automating checks, agent skills invokable via slash commands, integrated browser tools for UI validation without leaving the editor, and native Copilot CLI integration with diff tabs and context sharing.
