Maglev is Google's software network load balancer, designed to run on commodity Linux servers without requiring specialized hardware. It uses Equal Cost Multipath (ECMP) to distribute packets and incorporates features like consistent hashing and connection tracking to handle high traffic and mitigate faults. Maglev has supported Google's global service growth since 2008 and is also used for Google Cloud Platform.
