To celebrate the 35th anniversary of the classic puzzle game Lemmings, maker RobSmithDev built a magnetic levitation diorama featuring a 3D-printed lemming figurine floating under its iconic umbrella. The custom mag-lev system uses an Arduino Nano with a hall effect sensor and thermal sensor, pulling a magnet in the umbrella against gravity via an electromagnetic coil. Sound effects from the original game play contextually: 'Let's Go!' when the lemming is detected floating, a 'splat' if it falls, and a scream if it hits the magnet.
