Bloomberg reports that Apple's 2026 MacBook Pro refresh will feature OLED displays, touchscreen capability, and M6 processors with a hole-punch webcam design similar to iPhone's Dynamic Island. The redesign will include a thinner, lighter frame and reinforced hinges, but is expected to cost several hundred dollars more than current models. Apple may also transition from Touch ID to Face ID authentication in future iterations, though that change is still years away.

Who the fuck needs a touch screen on a mac book pro?

touchscreen on laptops has always been a pointless feature.

Classic Apple move. After you’ve perfected a product (m4 macbooks), you must ruin it, so that you could fix it later and call it innovation.

There’s no good reason for touchscreens on a Mac imo; the system isn’t designed for it. You can’t detach the monitor from the keyboard and use it like a writing surface or a handheld video player like you can with a proper tablet. Your arms will get tired reaching up towards the screen constantly. The UI tweaks they’ll need to make to support touch input would make apps way more airy and less information dense so you don’t accidentally touch the wrong button. The iPad is becoming more like MacOS but they’ve still kept what makes it uniquely designed for touch and stylus inputs; I don’t see a reason for the reverse to be true. I wouldn’t mind if they kept the current MacBook form factor and just gave us spec bumps for another decade; it’s near perfect as is.

Sorry but a Touchscreen is so useless. I try to hold my screen clean when you try to touch on it with this skinny display it’s in my opinion really useless.
