V Programming

No, please no. Not again. Another probably great language, which will never raise wider audience, and never be used in anything more than hobbyist projects. I have limited time and brain resources, so I only learn things which helps me pay my bills. Zig is my latest thing I wanted to learn for fun (and it is still waiting), and these new languages not help me to sustain in taken decision.

Vlang has perhaps the most beautiful syntax on any programming language I’ve ever used.
But it’s not finding adoption. And without adoption it’ll go the way of Betamax, Amiga CD32, Google Glass, the Arc browser, and other well-engineered but ultimately irrelevant niche tech. I will be sad to watch it fail and I do hope I’m wrong, but I won’t invest my time and go down with it.

I hope it gets taken more seriously when it reaches 1.0.
When it was first officially announced years ago, the promise was the language would be stable in less than a year, it would have some of the Rust guarantees, Go’s simplicity, and would compile faster than anything at the time. None of that happened yet.
It still has a great design, the syntax is very appealing, I don’t know much about the quality of the compiler.
I’ve been watching it since the beginning, but am still relunctant to spend time on it.

I woke up this morning and thought, I wish there was a new language. Same as the old ones, for the same tasks, but new.
