The Realtek RTL8723BS 802.11b/g/n WiFi driver, which entered the Linux kernel's staging area in 2017 with Linux 4.12, is still undergoing cleanup work heading into 2026. The Linux 7.0 staging pull request includes yet more cleanups for the rtl8723bs driver, continuing a long-running effort to bring the driver up to mainline kernel code quality standards.
