Linux kernel 6.20/7.0 will add support for Microsoft's ACPI Turn On Display DSM (Device Specific Method), introduced in Windows 11 22H2. This fixes critical issues on some laptops, particularly a Lenovo Yoga Slim model where cooling fans stopped working after suspend/resume cycles, causing dangerous overheating. The firmware on these devices expects this ACPI method to be called during resume to properly restore power rails and functionality. The patch implements the correct invocation sequence to signal firmware intent before fully exiting sleep state.
