Linux Mint has released new HWE (Hardware Enablement) ISO images for version 22.3 to address compatibility issues with newer hardware. The standard ISO ships with Linux kernel 6.14, which may lack support for components released after that kernel. The new HWE ISO includes Linux kernel 6.17, and the team plans to publish updated HWE ISOs each time a new HWE kernel lands in the distro. A Linux 7.0 HWE ISO is expected in summer 2026. Existing installs already receive HWE kernel updates automatically; the new ISOs are primarily for fresh installations on newer hardware.
