A Tencent engineer (Kairui Song) has submitted eight patches to the Linux kernel mailing list improving MGLRU's reclaim loop and dirty folio handling. The patches deliver up to 50% reduction in file faults and a 30% increase in MongoDB throughput (tested with YCSB on NVMe). On slower HDD storage, some workloads see over 100% performance gains. The changes also reduce code complexity and result in fewer unexpected OOM events in production environments.
