Intel's 2025 layoffs and restructuring continue to ripple through the Linux kernel community. Longtime Intel Linux engineer Dave Hansen submitted patches to update the kernel MAINTAINERS file, reflecting recent departures. Key impacts include: the IAA crypto driver losing one of its maintainers (Kanchana Sridhar, a 30+ year Intel veteran); the Thunderbolt DMA traffic test driver becoming orphaned after its sole maintainer Isaac Hazan left in September; a Keem Bay DRM driver maintainer departing; and Altera's PCIe IP and PCI MSI drivers being orphaned following Intel's sale of a 51% stake in Altera to Silver Lake. A MediaTek 5G WWAN modem driver reviewer also left the company.
