Valkey continues collaborative development under open governance and is licensed under BSD 3-clause. Supported by AWS, Google Cloud, Oracle, Ericsson, and Snap Inc., Valkey supports multiple platforms and offers a wide range of native structures. It comes with support for TLS and systemd, and allows for easy configuration through the command line. Installation scripts are available for Ubuntu and Debian systems. The licensing change in Redis has raised concerns about the relationship between cloud providers and open source software.</p>

<p>I actually kinda hope that Redis (by Redis Labs) will continue to be the “main” Redis. The maintainers must be paid! In my understanding only companies and no individual will be charged. If the fees for companies are reasonable this business model is way better than a closed source software.</p>
