Linux 7.1 adds SoC slider support to the x86_energy_perf_policy utility, enabling reading and writing of SoC slider parameters via sysfs. This feature targets Intel Core Ultra Series 3 'Panther Lake' systems and introduces new command-line options (--soc-slider-balance, --soc-slider-offset, --platform-profile) for managing processor thermal and power/performance preferences. The Turbostat utility also received updates including HT/SMT sibling display in CPU order and a new Module-ID column.
