A years-old bug affecting AMD GCN 1.0 'Hainan' GPUs (specifically Radeon R5 M430 and related models with PCI device IDs 0x6660 and 0x666F) has been fixed in Linux 7.0. The bug caused GPU hangs at high performance levels on kernels 5.4 and newer, first reported in 2021. The fix was a small patch to both the legacy Radeon and modern AMDGPU kernel drivers, adjusting max shader clock speed rules for the affected device IDs. It has been merged via a DRM fixes pull and is marked for back-porting to stable kernel versions.
