An advocacy group called Fairlinked/BrowserGate alleges that LinkedIn runs hidden JavaScript on every page load that scans users' browsers for installed software and extensions, then transmits the results to LinkedIn servers and third parties including HUMAN Security. The scan reportedly covers over 6,000 products, including competitor sales tools, job search extensions, and extensions revealing religious beliefs, political opinions, and disabilities — all without user consent or disclosure in LinkedIn's privacy policy. The group further claims LinkedIn is deceiving EU regulators under the Digital Markets Act by presenting minimal API compliance while expanding covert surveillance of the very third-party tools the regulation was meant to protect. The post calls for public support and funding for legal action against Microsoft/LinkedIn.
