The Document Foundation's Membership Committee has removed all Collabora staff and partners from TDF membership in a single action, affecting over 30 developers including seven of LibreOffice's all-time top ten core committers. The removals are based on newly adopted Community Bylaws that require anyone affiliated with a company in an active legal dispute with TDF to step down. Collabora CEO Michael Meeks, a TDF co-founder, has criticized TDF's governance decisions, alleging favoritism toward non-technical staff, use of donor funds for legal proceedings against volunteers, and TDF competing directly with its biggest contributor. In response, Collabora plans to build a new, lighter Collabora Office product from a cleaner codebase. TDF clarified that membership revocation is not a contribution ban and expects Collabora to continue contributing.
