Mitchell Hashimoto is developing libghostty, a library that will allow any application to embed a fully functional terminal emulator. The library extracts Ghostty's proven internals and provides a zero-dependency C API that runs across multiple platforms. It aims to solve the problem of developers repeatedly building incomplete and buggy terminal implementations by offering a shared, fast foundation that IDEs, CI tools, and other terminal-adjacent programs can use instead of maintaining their own ANSI parsers.
