The post is from 2017, but anyway the ecosystem needs to evolve so we have the best combination of the different worlds.
We need a reusable, performant and consistent design token system, easy to type and remember, type-safe, easily compatible with IDE completion features, and easy to refactor and reference.
Right now all approaches (vanilla CSS, CSS modules, CSS-in-JS, atomic classes) fail in some of those aspects to some extent.
