The new CSS `border-shape` property offers a powerful way to create shapes while preserving decorations like borders, shadows, and outlines — something `clip-path` and `mask` cannot do. It accepts the same value syntax as `clip-path` (polygon(), shape(), inset(), circle(), etc.), making it easy to adopt. Currently available in Chrome 147+, it complements rather than replaces existing methods: `mask` remains useful for repeating patterns and `clip-path` for clipping/reveal effects. Several CSS shape generators have been updated to provide border-shape versions.
