excellent overview on APIs. now, we need better guidance on how to go about collecting the right data. as the article briefly mentioned, data is the thing that actually gets monetized, not the APIs. the API just delivers data, but data is the most valuable part.
to extend the restaurant analogy that the article discussed, I’ll say that visitors come to the restaurant to get food (data), they don’t come to see the waiter (the API) who delivers the food, even though the waiter is an important part of the operation. the primary thing about a restaurant (business) is the food (data).
