OpenAI could face legal consequences for creating a ChatGPT voice that sounds like Scarlett Johansson. This is so stupid, we can not allow people to own categories of things because they are similar. Anything that is made will sound or look like someone, are we going to allow that person to sue each time or only if they have power?

If they can produce the voice actor from whom the voice was modelled, then they shouldn’t stress. If they can’t, then well, they need to pay up.

I’m actually amazed they went for that voice. I’ve always long prefered male voice in assistants as it sounds generally more direct and less “conversational”. If I want a real conversation, I’ll talk to a human being.
I’m usually there for questions that are too simple or trivial for most humans, things that would be replied to by “LMGTFY” a few years back.
“Guy” from MS Edge’s Read Aloud feature, and “Cove” from OpenAI, are two of the best voices I’ve ever stumbled upon.
I’ve used “Guy” in Edge to read several books to me. It helps with being easily distracted. The only reason I keep Edge on my machine is that feature tbh.

They requested 7 to 8 trillion dollars. Why would they be concerned about any lawsuit?
