Cisco has launched the DevNet Content Search MCP server, which brings official Cisco API documentation (Meraki and Catalyst Center) directly into IDEs like VS Code and Cursor via the Model Context Protocol. The server exposes three tools: semantic search over Meraki API docs, Meraki operation ID lookup, and Catalyst Center API search. It installs with one click and requires no configuration, allowing AI coding assistants to ground code suggestions in live, accurate Cisco API specs rather than outdated or generic knowledge. Reference workflow samples and prompt definitions are provided on GitHub. Future plans include expanding coverage to more Cisco product APIs and evolving reference samples into validated developer skills with security guidelines.
