database migration is a tricky business, specially when large amounts of data is involved. Also specially when migrating between different schema designs, and specially specially when doing all that between different database engines , all these factors need to be taken care of, and data testing must be performed to verify that the migration went down correctly and we didn’t just created a terabyte of garbage , and that also needs to be combined with application testing to verify the application is actually handling the data correctly before and after the migration. Now as long as you are doing some controlled environment migrations , you should be fine, but in real life , things will get big and they will get complicated … and sorry for the keyword overloading here , there are migrations and then there are migrations lol
