Kubuntu 26.04 LTS is now available, dropping X11 session support entirely in favor of Wayland as the sole officially supported display session. The release ships with Linux kernel 7.0, KDE Plasma 6.6, and notable additions including sudo-rs as the default sudo provider, the NTSYNC kernel driver for improved Windows game performance via Wine/Proton, and NVIDIA Dynamic Boost enabled by default for laptops. Updated packages include Qt 6.10.2, Firefox 149, LibreOffice 26.2.2, and KDE Frameworks 6.24.0. The release carries three years of standard LTS support.
