CNCF's 2025 Annual Survey reveals Kubernetes has become the infrastructure standard, with 82% production usage among container users and 66% of AI adopters using it for inference workloads. While 98% of organizations have adopted cloud native technologies, cultural resistance has emerged as the primary adoption barrier (47%), surpassing technical complexity and security concerns. Mature teams are leveraging GitOps (58% of innovators vs 0% of explorers), platform engineering, and observability tools like OpenTelemetry. Only 7% of organizations deploy AI models daily, with most focusing on operating pre-trained models reliably. The ecosystem faces sustainability challenges as AI workloads increase pressure on open source infrastructure.
