Since the Ktor Roadmap for 2024 was published there have been a lot of questions regarding Dependency Injection (DI). Specifically how Ktor will be changed to support DI, and to integrate existing DI frameworks. This work is still in its early stages, but we would like to clarify our intentions and invite feedback.

The Ktor 2024 Roadmap includes an update on Dependency Injection (DI) support. The proposed feature aims to integrate existing DI frameworks seamlessly with Ktor services. The Ktor Gradle plugin will automatically find and manage DI components, simplifying the injection process. The feature is optional and aligns with Ktor's minimalist and flexible approach.
