KMSCON 9.3.4 has been released, bringing improvements to this user-space virtual terminal emulator that runs on Linux DRM/KMS APIs. Key changes include defaulting to FreeType instead of Pango, multi-monitor support options, hardware cursor plane and rotation support, an improved glyph cache, memory safety fixes, and bell/keyboard LED handling. The project is maturing toward replacing the in-kernel VT (CONFIG_VT), with Fedora 45 potentially shipping KMSCON as its default VT console and GNOME OS already using it by default.
