Nim is a programming language combining C-like performance with Python-like syntax, featuring eight memory modes, borrow/move semantics similar to Rust but opt-in, and structural typing through "concepts" instead of traits. It offers smaller binary sizes than Rust, built-in async functionality comparable to Tokio, and more approachable macros that work with syntax trees. While less verbose and beginner-friendly than Rust, it lacks the same memory safety guarantees and allows nil values. The language includes a full-stack web framework called HappyX and competes in a space with Rust, Kotlin, and Mojo.
