A team attempts to reclaim the drone speed world record after Luke Bal reached 658 km/h. Using higher KV motors from AAX, overcharged 14S batteries (4.35V per cell), and a puller configuration with motors at the front, they achieve 690 km/h peak speed. The custom-built BlackBird drone features thin arms with motor windings fed directly through to speed controllers, optimized aerodynamics, and runs significantly cooler than typical racing drones. After two runs averaging 662.5 km/h peak (estimated 661 km/h over 100m), they reclaim the record by approximately 3 km/h.
