An exploration of the size and activity of the 'small web' — personal, non-commercial websites free of advertising and tracking. Using Kagi's small web list (~32,000 sites), the author wrote a program to analyze update frequency across feeds. After filtering out inactive or improperly formatted sites, roughly 9,000 active sites remained, generating over 1,200 new content updates on a single day. This makes the small web too large to aggregate on a single page like Gemini capsules, but the finding is ultimately positive: the non-commercial, personal web is alive and growing.
