KDE has merged support for per-screen virtual desktops into KWin after a feature request originally filed in June 2005. The new functionality allows users to switch virtual desktops independently for each monitor, rather than having all screens switch simultaneously. It is implemented in the VirtualDesktopManager and works only on Wayland (not X11 or XWayland). The feature will ship in KDE Plasma 6.7.
