Andrej Karpathy argues that the software industry needs to fundamentally rethink who its customer is. Rather than building human-facing apps and UIs, companies should expose APIs directly so AI agents can interact with services on behalf of users. Karpathy: Stop Building for Humans

I’m not anti-AI but I think this is directionally wrong. For a lot of things there’s no need for LLM Agents. And forcing them into those spaces is a fundamentally bad idea.

So no more self-contained applications with self-contained APIs for developers that want to extend them and all data should go to AI companies or you get a loan to have enough GPUs and mem cards to run your own locally.
Yeah… no.

He is not saying: change the interface. He is preaching to the choir: change YOUR interface so the voice agents can work for people.
