A brief history of programming...

I’d say this is the very good and concise compilation of the programming language evolution. I saw this all and still remember how I’ve entered the code with the eight 1-0 toggle switches. It’s true. And the evolution of the high level programming languages in a such short period is really amazing! I love his conclusion:

A programming language is still a tool that allows you to tell the computer what you want it to do and AI assistants enable us to do it in any language you want. OK, almost any =)
BTW, I also use the JetBrains IDE IntelliJ with AI assistant and Junie. Junie is similar to the Claude Code, has an access to the complete project structure and file system. It performs really good. Also it has built in Claude agent and Claude Code itself, which you can run in the console. Besides this IDE has a possibility to run Junie on any available model, including local LLMs with Ollama.

This was, actually, brilliant! I’m a junior dev and I’ve pivoted to software engineering from (gasp!) political science, and this really helped me grasp things and fill some gaps in my knowledge. Also the explanations are stellar. Kudos fireship!
